They’re Magic…
Remember when you were little and you wanted to wear that tiara to the grocery store… or the football helmet to your Aunt Celia’s wedding? Remember how that one favorite thing to wear could change the mood of every adventure you had? These favorite things seemed to take on magical powers, and we got to be someone special each time we wore them.
Armwarmers and gloves are like that for me… The moment I put them on I feel special. I end up pointing much more than necesssary (which way did you want to go, this way? that way?… oh it’s over there… etc.) I tend to make grand sweeping gestures with my hands just to catch a glimpse of how these fun accesories accent what I feel is the second most expressive part of us all (our face being the first). My large hands feel prettier, more delicate… and don’t even get me started on the funky factor of anything that gets to hang out over your wrists with folds of fabric.
They are also most excellent for “squishing tall buildings”
These are perfect for holding the hand of someone you love

Now when you take something this cute and make it in plaid, it just can’t get any better than that.

The Plaid arm warmers fit my larger hands just fine, they come mid way up my forearm all the way stretched out (but I like em scrunched up at the wrist). These are the sort of thing that look even better the more you wear em.
Sure these have a function… they can certainly help to keep you warmer on brisk days…
but for me, these are just pure magic fun! (I’m even wearing them while I’m typing this up… they ummm, really help with my typing… yeah, that’s it… wearing them helps with my typing) ;o)
11 soxy thoughts:
I don’t know about arms, but this was the most heartwarming post ever! So funny and sweet and just… touching somehow. Thank you! I want to have them now!
P.S. I love the squishing tall buildings picture. Hilarious!
EG you have the best posts. I look forward to them. I’m liking arm warmers more and more. Oh!I type 26 words per minute.
Lovely! I am so glad I have been there with you while you gave directions to someone on the street in NYC, when I read that I could totally picture you, and the chesire cat ~;)
Lovely post, yes indeed!!! I love how you put the words beside the images, I miss doing that, it looks so cool.and, just so you all know, we are out of a couple of these, but the ones we do have we have lots of!
…I love this line and we just restocked some of the armwarmers yesterday. Hopefully the skeleton OTKs will be in today (they were on the invoice, but not in the box)
aww thanks guys :O)
The day I took those pictures was the ONLY cool day it seems we’ve had so far in the city (it’s crazy, it’s still summer here, and an icky sticky humid one at that… pooh!). I can still wear my plaid armwarmers at home in the AC (to help me type of course), but it got too hot again to bring them outside (today will reach high 70′s) , I want to complain … I need the name of the person in charge.. tee hee.
Niq… it took me a while to figure out what you meant by “put the words beside the images”… On my AOL, it doesn’t look that way at all and in the dashboard it looked exactly like it does on my aol… but then I opened up firefox and saw exactly what you meant. That was unintentional… I’m going to try to tweak it a little so it will look the same to everyone as it does to me. :O)
I love gloves and armwamers, but I always feel odd wearing them, like I don’t know how to include them in an outfit without looking like I’m trying to be 10 years younger.
That said, if they ever come back in stock, I have a feeling the black fingerless gloves will become a staple in my wardrobe, even if I can’t manage to make it ‘stylish’.

About the black fingerless gloves…
long story short, I’ve had them on order for longer than I can believe and have no idea why they still are not here as we’ve been told multiple tales from the supplier about the status, but, as far as I know and have been told “they are on their way”…
It no worry, I have to wait for a little more in my piggybank before I can place another order anyway.
I apparently type 60 words per minute. Faster than I thought!
And Kay, I think a good way to ease your way into armwarmers is to just wear them over sleeves at first. Then it’s just an extension of your sleeves, rather than an entire different thing.
I really hope the black fingerless gloves are back in soon; I’ve got a pair, but when I wear them everyone wants to know where they can get some. They’re so comfortable and practical that I want to recommend them to everyone I know, but I can’t till we actually have some.
the black fingerless gloves are grand…but my very fav now are the pair that wasnt marked wool but was wool (remember those? i think they are restocked now and are acrylic…???..was an asian brand..???…sorry i am SO specific!)..anyway i adore these because you can slip your thumb out to wash your hands…the fingerless i had to take the whole glove off and then my arms/wrists were cold and in shock…so for me i like the straight black because they meld with my general outfit color of – black….then it isnt so much that i am trying to pull off some cute funky punky outfit that i dont do so well at pulling off….but they are marvelous for warmth…makes all the difference.
and EG as always your posts are my extreme favorites always xo!
this style gloves i love is what i am saying…hhmm…buggery post i did sorry…because they are so easy to slide your thumb out to wash ones hands….but there is a black style which are the ones i have….i cant carry these off like gorgeous EG….(although the green/navy combo is so sweet!)
