Ember Love

after thinking one of our favorite Dream Stockings styles was gone for good we have been blessed with lots of new colors of O Marled socks… and just in time for fall weather to start hitting us with chilly evenings and even chillier mornings.

These deliciously thick, ribbed socks stretch to an accommodating 23 inches around at the tops while still fitting those of us with scrawny calves… a true “Dream” stocking if there ever was one!
My inseam is about 30 inches and my thighs are 19 inches around so these come pretty close to the tops of my thighs if I pull them all the way up, but my favorite way to wear them is thickly cuffed just above my knees. Larger/longer legs will have varying results, but as seen in the image for charcoal, as worn by Trina, these can still be a great OTK…
.
The biggest change with this new batch is that we decided to only do one foot size which we are calling large because it is larger [in the feet] than the small hunter we have leftover from the previous batches, but don’t worry, these fit a shoe size 7 right up to women’s 10 pretty well and we will probably switch that large to “one size” when those hunters are gone. I also think these itch a little more before being washed a few times, which we think is due to the marled bits, I solved it by wearing them over leggings, but really it just took washing them to soften them up.

Ember is my favorite color of these right now, and as I sit here telling you why I love them so much I am tempted to wear them through a second day because I don’t want to take them off!

28 soxy thoughts:
I have the denim, and I love them! They did soften up a lot after being washed, although I am a 7.5 and the foot is still too big on me. I shrunk just the foot in hot water and now they fit very well! The O Marleds are one of my very favorite cold weather socks and I am so glad to see them back! Now I want some Embers……..

this is probably the millionth time i’ve said this since i got them – but yes, the Ember OMarled are my new favorite! I also have the black and the tweed and they are lovely too but my goodness the Ember color is incredibly gorgeous! I wore them without washing first and didnt find them itchy at all. love them love them love them!!!! they stayed up all day at work ( i wore them with slouchy boot, OTK, cuffed & a little scrunched)….then i wore them to bed…and then all the next day out and about….cuz – ummm did i mention this – i LOVE them!

I love these socks with a passion! They were one of two pairs of socks I placed on my first order just this past week. I am 5’1 and curvy, about a size 14 and they fit great, are warm and cozy and have been the first thing I put on when I get home from work. Love these and love sock dreams! IS the ember color purpleish? It’s hard to make out the color from the pictures…
September 15th, 2010 at 7:36 pm
i keep thinking to myself it is a maroonish color….or maybe its a burgandy….but there is a brown tone to it kinda….and then the little specks of color – those blue specks i just fell in love with.
lovely.
and can go with so many colors i think due to the ambiguity of it…
Niq’s pics really do show it fabulously….its comes thru perfectly on my computer so if you are questioning if thats how it really looks in true life – it is.

oh hey Carole – i forgot to ask – what color did you get?
September 15th, 2010 at 8:50 pm
That’s exactly why they’ve been catching my eye! I know I can wear them with almost any colour (I bet they’d go well even with all my turquoises!). I have got to figure out what other colours of these I’m getting.
I love your exuberant photos Niqkita! They always make me happy.

The Ember was called “black/red” when we got it (we thought Ember was a much prettier name!) but I think the overall effect is more of a dark brown or burgundy. Not very purple at all to my eye.

I got black and they are seriously the most beautiful socks. The brown, cream and black colors make them a perfect for anything I own. I am thinking of getting the ember and olive next. I think they will go great with my Fluevog Mini Gorgeous mary jane pumps. I think I need some boots to go with my new socks : ) I can’t wait for the weather here in the SF Bay area to cool down enough to wear these out for the day.

wow pardon my typos
September 16th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
aw, thanks Brenna, for some reason I think of puppies when I see exuberant, must be because I always have Lola on my brain, or on my lap.
Carol: no worries on typos… we’re all human, sometimes… =)
I love my Fluevogs, great shoes & boots, esp if you can find them on sale.
And yeah… I’m going with a burgundy-ish brown, I tried to shoot them in some nice bright shade to bring out all their colors (which are many)

yes, we hope to!
September 17th, 2010 at 7:28 am
and speaking of yarn quantity…is there a limited amount of these gorgeous yarns? are they in jeopardy of becoming extinct?? because i might have to start hoarding……………
September 17th, 2010 at 3:23 pm
sadly, yes…
we might not be able to restock this very one =(

Hey i was wondering about the N stripes, will you be getting a new shipment in of the maroon/navy, olive/sage, teal/aqua, or maroon/olive? ive been trying to get these for a while but they either just go really fast or they havnt been in for a while. are they starting to go away?
September 18th, 2010 at 5:50 pm

PennyFarthing— Sorry for the delay in answering your question! The quickest and surest way to find out about specific product’s status is to use our Contact Form. In answer to your question, we do have the N Stripes on order, but the small, family-run, mill that makes our DreaM Stockings (like the O Marled) has a bit of a backlog to get to before them.
Raubynn— I just got word that the Ember yarn is no more.
I’m glad I didn’t get a pair now, so they could go to a customer (I’ve turned my sights to Denim instead).

Oh no! No more Ember love! They certainly looked fabulous and pretty unique!

I’m determined to try the O Marled (I’ve never owned a marled sock!) and I am leaning to the tweed brown, but I do love the colourful specks the Ember O Marled had… I can’t really tell from the pictures on the site, but it looks like Natural and Navy have colourful specks too, is that right?

Thanks! xoxox

All the O Marled have gorgeous speckles, but the Navy and the Natural do have similar yellow and blue tinted speckles to our much beloved Ember. The other colourways, like Tweed Brown (which is so stunning in person) have speckles that are more monochromatic.
September 21st, 2010 at 12:33 pm
Thanks for the info, Brenna! I think I’ll go for the Tweed Brown after all, even if they don’t have multicolour speckles. I might be addicted to tweed-y things.

the tweed brown is gorgeous – as is the black. i have these colors plus the ember – slightly addictive they are! gggrrrrrr – i wanna try them ALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 22nd, 2010 at 9:19 pm
Hi there what does hunter look like? are there specks of color like ember?
September 30th, 2010 at 6:44 am
no….. the ember is unique with its colorful specks. The hunter is just green/beige tones…
the black appears to be out of stock also….was this limited yarn as well or will it be restocked? thank you!
Wow, I just got my Tweed Browns and they are indeed delicious!

I wasn’t expecting them to be this long and stretchy! They look really cute slouched over the Harajuku Super Loose in Milk Tea I also got, but I noticed I can also pull them all the way up to the top of my thighs, even though I usually buy Large socks. Aaand they do look stunning, I love the colours.

In fact, everything in my last order was even nicer than usual. I guess winter socks are particularly happymaking, they’re like chicken soup when you have a cold.

Raubynn— We do have more of the O Marled in Black on order. If you want, just drop us a line and we can let you know when they come in!
Miss Musaranh—Exactly like chicken soup! Only instead of being all warm and cozy in your belly, it’s warm and cozy on your toes and looks good too.
Due to Brenna’s comments on the Natural – i tried them and love them too….they remind me of cream of wheat for some reason.
and i just grabbed another tweed. and i was lucky to get the cool Halloween black mix. now – will they (whoever finds these incredible yarns) continue searching out new marled yarns or will omarled be no more at some point? because they are the most comfortable and gorgeous boot socks ever!!! sexy. but SO comfy and snuggly and warm.
