One question we get asked a lot is “where did you get those shoes?!” Many times we just cannot remember, but here are our favourite resources for that all-important sock accessory.
With so many Dreamers—each with their own shoe collection—and the amazing treasure chest of heels, flats and boots kept on hand at Sock Dreams HQ, we have endless options to mix and match for product shots. It’s fun to see what shoes strike everybody’s fancy each season. Right now the most popular query is for “those gorgeous boots in the Codori Burgundy pictures!” They’re by Miss Mooz, and though I don’t know if that particular style is still made, the Miss Mooz Amelia Button Boot is super close in looks and seems to be available from a lot of different online shoe boutiques, like Endless.com.
Our Miss Mooz boots on the left, Miss Mooz Amelia Button Boot on the right.
At Sock Dreams we love supporting small businesses when we can (since we are one too!) and a great way to do that is through Etsy’s shoe category. From gorgeous creations made from scratch to amazingly whimsical embellishments, there’s a little something for everyone. And a couple perfect things for Nikqita, who has picked up some amazing pairs, including these super fun lipstick dots from Hippy of Doom.

• Este Luxe Crew Socks in Scarlet •
More of our favourite sources after the jump!
On the opposite end of the scale is Zappos, which is nearly daunting in the sheer scope of selection. Not that it’s stopped any of us from burrowing into their site and finding styles that win our hearts, like these gorgeous corduroy and leather ankle boots:

• Erika Microfiber Tights in Espresso •
• Dream Slouches in Black•
We also have a lot of luck looking at thrift stores and consignment shops. Local options we’ve had a lot of luck at are Redlight, Buffalo Exchange and Goodwill, though it’s always worth it to keep an eye out for the little shops, because you never know what you’ll find. These button-side beauties were snagged by Niqkita, who has the most amazing luck finding shoes.

• Striped Over the Knee in Pink & White •
• Slouch Lace Ankle Socks in Black •
Though the best tip for searching out shoes in thrift stores is perseverance, a good thing to remember when doing any online shoe shopping (besides measuring!) is keywords and search terms. How high is the heel, is it a loafer, or a saddle shoe? Does it lace, does it button? It’s silly, but totally worth it to check out a list of different shoe types. There are definitely some styles in this Wikipedia list that I did not know existed!
Have you found an amazing source for shoes? Do you have a favourite sock and shoe combo that you like to rock?

My favorite shoes in the universe are Earth mary janes in a gorgeous pomagrantate red color (kind of like these, but slightly different – but they’ve become hard to find). I wear them all winter and as often as possible in the summers – and with as many of my Dreamy Socks as I can get away with. (;
The corduroy boots…. who is the maker? Those are amazing. Thanks for posting!

I love sandals with o-woolies! Not very stylish, but so comfy!

Kyeli—I’ve just recently fallen in love with the look of maryjJanes! I love that deep red colour. When I was going through pictures for this post I counted at least three different pairs of red mary jane shoes worn over the years in Sock Dreams photos. They’re clearly a classic.
Michele—I tried to figure out who the maker of those (gorgeous!) corduroy booties was, but they’ve been in Niqkita’s shoe rotation for a long time and the name of the maker is almost completely worn away. The last three letters of the brand look like they’re “uez”, but I’m not totally sure.
Annie—We’ve been pro socks & sandals for ages! It shows off the sock more, which is totally important for comfy and cute styles like the O Woolies.
I took a survey recently that mentioned a “plimsoll”. I had to ask what that was, I’d never heard of such a thing. Apparently, it’s a canvas deck shoe, like Converse and such. I’ve only ever heard them called deck shoes. And I never thought to look on Etsy for shoes!
Ohhh, thank you for this post, I had never heard of Miz Mooz and I love their retro and quirky style (besides, their shoes look quite comfy!)
Also, Etsy love! <3
My favourite sock-shoe combo is a pretty common one, I guess: knee high boots and OTK socks with minidresses as seen on the shoot for the Cronert Ribbed Wool OTK in brown: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/socks/over-the-knee/cronert-ribbed-wool-otk
Warm and cute!
Also, those lace up brown boots are gorgeous. Do you happen to remember where you got them?

The corduroy boots are Type Z Caitlyn 2 was the style, I think…. they had several similar a few years ago, including a tall version, but I’m pretty sure they are all gone now except maybe in thrift shops and maybe ebay.
Those brown laceups with the cronert ribbed wool otks came from Zappos, Bronx Shoes: Mia…. I got them in 2006…
Thanks, niqkita, that’s very helpful. I’ll have a look around.

Gawd, I love those Miz Mooz boots.
I am a maryjane fiend , myself.
I also like Fluevog, Fly London, Poetic Licence, etc. More shoe posts in the blog. yay!
I would LOVE to know where you got the pink shoes shown in the Cotton Inklined Knee Highs
I’d wear them with EVERYTHING (almost)
I got those on Ebay forever ago… maybe 9 years, no idea on a brand or style name though…
I’m so glad you have an entry on this! I’ve been trying to identify the cute pumps from http://www.sockdreams.com/products/sitm-birds-on-a-wire . Anyone know?
For the first time, really, I’m starting to branch out into having fun with clothes (Sock Dreams has been helping a lot with that, thank you!) and shoes are pretty new territory. I’m so picky AND hard to fit it’s been difficult, so I appreciate all the suggestions here–keep ‘em coming! I like a touch of retro, cute details (like multiple buckles, or unusual touches), above all attractive silhouette and some reasonable measure of comfort. Mary Janes, pumps (which tend not to stay on my short, wide-toes-narrow-heels duck feet, alas) with sturdy non-stiletto heels, something with a pretty shape. I’ve been looking on Zappos and Modcloth without much success (there are a lot of retro styles I think should stay in the past, ha!), but I’ll keep looking.
With the return of very slightly warmer weather (oh, Chicago), I’m also looking for cute skirts so I can show off my latest order! I miss Portland and Sock Dreams very much!
the Miz Mooz boots are called ‘knee-high Henley”:
http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/new-miz-mooz-henley?um=2totally sold out new, but there’s always hope for a lucky second-hand score!

(yes I’ve been searching that long, I love them! lol) Any help would be very, very much appreciated!!
Do you know the maker/where to get these mary janes? http://www.sockdreams.com/products/socks/knee-highs/textured-stripe-knee-high

The word is that they’re from Land’s End, though I don’t believe they’re available any longer.

I am desperate to know where you got the tabi boots here: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/accessories/leggings/nouvella-cotton-legging and here: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/socks/toe-socks/vertical-stripe-tabi-otk
Been searching high and low for a decent tabi bootie and have found nothing anywhere near as cute as the ones I’ve seen on this site.

Aren’t they great? Those are Jikatabi by Cool East Market, who supply our more basic tabi socks.

Hi! I love, love, love the boots shown on the Cotton Inklined Knee Highs in Dark Red/Black (http://www.sockdreams.com/products/brand/dream-stockings/cotton-inklined). Might you remember where they’re from, or better still, the brand? No worries if you can’t =) Love the site!

Those boots ARE really wonderful! (http://www.sockdreams.com/products/brand/dream-stockings/cotton-inklined ) They are older Frye boots that were picked up at the Buffalo Exchange here in Portland about two years ago.

I would also like to know where the mary janes that Kat mentioned are from! Lovely shoes!
