According to ancient Incan legend, alpacas were loaned to humans on Mt. Ausangate in Peru, left on earth as long as they were treated well and respected.

The alpaca is renown for its exceptional fleece and is considered by the fashion world to be one of the most exclusive. The fleece is prized for its softness (comparable to mohair), fineness (it is a no itch fiber), and strength( stronger and lighter weight that sheeps wool).

Considered to be a relatively rare specialty fiber, alpaca fleece production is limited in the US and Canada to date because of the comparably small numbers of animals in North America, hence its lofty price. Luckily we came across these super cozy blended alpaca socksthat give the benefits of warmth and softness with out the hefty price that accompanies many a full fibered sock.

These blended alpaca socks have adorned my feet all day, and I think I might have to splurge and get more of these in all the wonderful colors…

The are very light weight- so fit easily under a fancier shoe- yet still kept my toes toasty on one of the coldest windiest days we have had so far. Alpaca is also well known for how dry it keeps your feet, even through a sweaty slog, so that makes these great for hiking as well… that testing I will leave for another day when the weather is a little less blustery.

The wonderful tube socks ( there are so many different kinds all listed under the Dream stockings are my true and trusted companion on my journeys. I am particularly fond of the Dream tubes as seen here on me in the dark greens.

As I start my trek in the cold desert mornings I pull the wonderful warmth of the tubes all the way up my legs to keep them snug. As the hike progresses i pull them down to a knee high and bell the remainder of the material around the tops of my shoes. Yes this may look a little odd, but if you have ever hiked in grassy areas you may be well aware off all the little prickly things….

…… like burs that can get wedged in and stuck in the tops of your shoe or work their way deep into your ankles. “Belling” (as I have dubbed it) solves this problem as well as alleviating the odd rock or two that can sometimes find its way into your hiking boots. I personally think it looks rather adorable and I always feel spiffy at the tops of every vista or warm and comfy in the cool canyons.

And as you all may have noticed….. WE HAVE STOCK IN THE M’S!!!!! Lots of new colors and the old favorites as well. I took a ton of pics today and hope to take some more tomorrow and will hopefully have all the images updated by Thursday! Have fun scouting around!

With all the swimming in socks we do all day, you would think the last thing on my mind would be more socks once I ventured away from sockland, yet I found myself admiring some argyle socks while between Photofaye shoots today. Being on a cute boy no doubt is what helped me notice them. That and the fact that they were underneath the WHITEST Chucks I have ever seen actually on someones feet and not in a box. Of course I was a dork and got a snap! And just so everyone knows….we do NOT sell those particular color of argyles here… I thought it would be nice to feature them for today so we can’t not run out of them!!!!! )

An idea of what will be added tomorrow… Orange knees, pumpkin socks, shark socks ( its so not even what you could imagine.. The cuteness will just eat you up!!!! ), Darker reverse dream tubes with black stripes new wool items and super cute knee highs with stars and also tri tone stripes designed by a local female run sock company. So many socks and so little time. We are currently running out of certain items and you may be noticing new colors starting to appear in all varieties in the M line. Eventually we will have ALL possible colors in as many styles as possible in the Dream socks. With this much variety coming in we may occasionally run out of items for a short while as the more we stock the longer it takes the mill to produce what we need. Usually we can restock within 2-3 weeks, but sometimes it can take longer. If there is something particular you want or need just email us and we can try to expedite the order with that certain item.

One of the gals is wearing the o chevrons in white and the other is wearing some snazzy argyles that ( I just realized) are another item in our ever expanding backlog of socks to list ( she is wearing my sample pair for the shoot )

The Longer Super Stripes make me jump for joy as well. And keep your eyes peeled for new black and white items… and lots of new colors in general. We have been running out of quite a few things with the move and the busy season starting up right around the same time, but supplies are slowly trickling back in and we should be all restocked and have new additions ( think Orange knees and colors colors and more colors in the solid styles in the m-styles and gazzillion new other items….my faves are the fuzzy argyle……drooooooooool) in the next 2-3 weeks.

Ok so I am not sure exactly what the definition of Pantacollant is, but that what it said on the box of these super swank super soft super sexy footless tights.

The first time I saw these on the super cutie pie of a Rep for the Levante line I was jaw dropping at how adorable they looked. I have been eagerly awaiting their arrival and once I saw them sitting out on the table I had to snag me a pair right away!!!!

Tee hee!!!! I am all giddy with glee!

Levante has always been a producer of high end items, and it is no different with these- the quality is outstanding! The material is ultra soft and stretchy microfiber and elastane that hugs ever curve so gently with out pinching or making icky indents in the flesh. The gusset ( or as my sis would say “the whoooooha area”) in these is made out of a thin, yet still sturdy, cotton to make that area more breathable and comfortable. The square silver accent faux buckles that adorn the bottom of the open loops of these is what really appealed to me the most in this footless wonder.There are no actual little diamontes in the buckle ( though it appears that way) The illusion is created with little curved hollow cups that reflect the light. This nifty innovation keeps nasty snags at bay.

Yes the Levante line is a bit more costly, but in the long run these will last you through many many many compliments on successive wearings so pay for themselves.

The only issue I had with these is that they put me in the largest size range… Yup I suppose I am officially a 4XL. There was a whole ton of more roominess/stretch and I am sure they will fit anyone above my 165lbs on a 5’4″ frame quite well. The max on these is 5′ 11″ and 200 lbs. And for those of you on the other end of the scale…there are is 1S whose minimum fit is for 4’5″ and 80. erm…..( there are 2 more sizes in between those) Well at least they will fit a variety of people regardless of the ridiculous sizing labels!

All in all these Dancing Pantacollants are splendiffically wonderful and make me want to put on my lace peticoat and dance dance dance dance!!!!!!!!

While we currently only stock the 200 inch longsocks in whites ( know as the Great Whites here in sockdreams land),I was desperate to have a pair in my favorite pale blue hue and with the foot size a tad smaller to fit my little tootsies perfectly. I begged and pleaded with our supplier. These long socks are extremely difficult and time consuming to produce, but they were more than willing to grant my socky wishes.

So the question now is: Would anyone be interested in colors in the 100 inch and 200 inch longsocks and if so, what colors? We are think about adding the sky blue, black and pink to the site for sure, but only in 4 pairs of each.

It’s also possible to get a pair made in whatever color and foot size you would want, but this option will only be available if you email me ( xilia@sock-dreams.com ) and order your pair before we put in our restocking order in the second week in October. Be sure to include the color you want, your shoe size, and wether its 100 or 200 inch socks you wanted. There will also be an additional $10 for the special order as it takes the supplier time and effort to change out the yarn for one pair of socks-usually they end up making many dozens of a certain color. This will most likely be your only chance to have your very own made to order sock until next year.

As you can see from the pics these 200 inch longsocks are super dooper long!

Its amazing how many people will order long socks only to write and exclaim “I did not realize they were THAT long”. SO if you get these be prepared. Its a feat getting them on, but I have figured out that if you scrunch the sock up first and slip in your foot(like putting on hosiery)its ever so much easier.

Once adorned, you can wear them in loose wrinkles all the way up ( or in my chubby legged case as far up as they would go, which even though its not to the tops of my 26 inch wide thighs I think is still ridiculously cute).

Or, as I prefer, like little leg warmers with the top being smooth and the wrinkles sitting around the ankle area.

I have already been wearing these on the cooler nights and find they don’t overheat me , but also keep me cozy. I can’t wait for the winter. Throw on a pair of super soft EG smith Solid or Space Dyed cotton tights under those delicious wrinkles and I will be warm and cozy as well as be able to wear my cute skirts ALL winter long!!!!! Woo hoo!

These Miss Dater Knee Highs fell 4 inches short of actually being a knee high on me, but did not fall short on quality comfort and style!

I got to test out the Wine color in these and was really impressed with how well made these socks are for being so sheer(perfect for those 99 degree days!). They stayed up and in place really well on their own for an entire day of walking and driving around. The foot part was a little big on my size 6 feet, but not so much so that it was bunchy in my shoe.

These come in a dazzling array of fantastic colors and I am sure I will find myself with many more colorful summer additions to my ever expanding socky wardrobe! -
