We had a blast at Denver Comic Con last month! We got to see some wonderful costumes and meet a lot of great people, some of which incorporated Sock Dreams brand socks into their con look! Which we absolutely love seeing! Can’t get enough!
Jennifer is ready to crush the rebel alliance with her charcoal M45s.
Looking colorful and radiant in plum Extraordinary Thigh Highs
Will showing house pride in black/yellow Sorcerer Socks, 10 points to Hufflepuff!
Eva completed her look with black/grey Dreamer Vertical Striped Cotton OTKs.
We also took a lot of measurements, which makes shopping online easier. If you are headed to any of the same events we are or can make it into our Portland brick and mortar shop, we will happily take your measurements for you!
If you incorporated any of your purchases into costumes we’d love to see them. Share them to us on Facebook, Tumblr, tag us on Instagram or email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to let us know if you want us to share them with others or if we should keep them to ourselves!
2015 has been a pretty exciting year for us, and we’re particularly pleased with the direction our house brands have been heading this year. We’ve actually released so many new styles of DreaM Stockings and Dreamer Socks that we felt they deserved an end-of-year round-up. Both lines are custom made for us in the USA, and feature regenerated yarns and minimal packaging, for minimal environmental impact. If you’ve never tried our house brands before, now would be a great time to start!
The first two new DreaM Stockings are actually new versions of boot socks that we previously carried. While the M Bootsocks changed to a new solid charcoal body, the construction of the sock is still just how it used to be. Our new Warm and Cozy Bootsocks, on the other hand, are a reimagining of a somewhat different style – the old Thick and Bulky Bootsocks. They still come in soft, pastel colors and feature fluffy, high-bulk acrylic yarn, but they’re just not quite as thick as they used to be.
We had hoped that 2015 would be a year for finding new yarns for O Marled socks, but we didn’t have any such luck… which just meant that we had to get a bit creative! Our brilliant sock knitters found a way of combining two different yarn colors, for our Striated OTKs, which feature an irregular pattern reminiscent of heathered and marled yarns.

We also added another length to our much-loved line of chevron patterned DreaM Stockings: Shorty Chevrons! We went for some brighter colorways for this length, as we think they’ll be perfect for summer, given their anklet length and breathable open knit!

Of course 2015 also saw the addition of some new stripey styles of DreaM Stockings. It just wouldn’t be Sock Dreams without our stripes! Presenting Bee’s Knees, and Sporty Stripes — we consider these two styles to be instant classics.
But wait! We have one more stripey style up our…. (dare we say it?) sleeves! That’s right, we’ve added Holiday Mis-match Sleeves, in four colorways to represent 4 major winter holidays! Made in the same style as our M Sleeves, these are a little bit extra-special, because each pair features one sleeve with wide stripes, and one with skinny stripes!

We couldn’t let DreaM Stockings have all of the holiday fun, though! We had the same colorways made up in crews and OTKs for our Dreamer Socks line. Knitted from cozy, high-quality acrylic yarn, these feature the great stretch that our Dreamer Socks are known for — the idea behind these socks is to be inclusive, so it only made sense to make them in a style of sock that can fit as many people as possible!
Exciting as our Holiday Stripes are to us, we happen to think that there’s an even more beautiful new striped sock in the Dreamer Socks line this year… so beautiful, in fact, that we had to make them in three lengths. Our new Elemental Stripes come in 5 different colorways, to represent the five alchemical elements, though we’ve put our own spin on their names. Available in two lengths of thigh high and a larger-footed crew, we’ve made it almost too easy to get into your element, so to speak.
Extraordinary Elemental Stripes in spirit, terra, inferno, glacier and zephyr
2015 was also a big year for experimentation with what our sock knitters can do with the machines. We’ve got some other new patterns and textures in the pipeline for you, but you can already see two of the fun new styles we came up with this year! Our Vertical Vintage OTKs feature a pattern based on a 1920’s postcard we came across a few years ago, while our Diamond Pattern Midcalves offer a larger-footed alternative to our Dreamer Diamond Waves, while taking the pattern a little further with concentric diamonds.

A couple of this year’s new Dreamer Socks are based on preexisting styles that we liked so much, we felt the need to make them in shorter versions, too! You probably already know how much we love our Extraordinary Thigh Highs, but did you know that they’re now available in a knee high? Additionally, our Dreamy Bamboo Patterned OTKs now come in a sweet little crew, perfect for summer!
And now, dear readers, our round-up is drawing to a close, but we have one more pairing of new styles to present to you. Once again, we’re just so in love with our Extraordinary Thigh High styles that we had to create yet another variation on the theme. For our final new Dreamer Socks of the year, we’ve rolled out Roll-Topped Extraordinary Thigh Highs, as well as a longer version! Featuring a non-constrictive roll top, these tend to need a garter belt or other anti-gravity device to stay up, much like vintage stockings. At 28 inches around when the tops are fully stretched, these fit the widest range out of any of our house brand socks yet, and that makes us some very happy Dreamers.
Whew! Looking back over the last year (and these last 18 socksy styles), it seems like it’s been a long journey, though certainly not an unpleasant one. We hope you find our new offerings as exciting as we do. We simply can’t wait to show you what we’ve got in store for 2016!
Sakura Con is the Pacific Northwest’s largest Anime convention. Con goers can dress up as their favorite anime character, find a large variety of Manga and Anime to buy, and enjoy panels on everything from voice acting to the art of anime, to interactive games.
Dreamer Jen especially looks forward to seeing one of her favorite regular vendors, Epic Cosplay, who have a huge variety of inexpensive wigs.
This year, Sock Dreams will be located at booth 243, in the back end of the convention hall. We’ll be passing out stickers and our new buttons, as well as selling the Sock Dreams brand at discounted con prices. Come by and see us!
Happy (almost) New Year, Dreamer Fans!!! We’re very excited about 2014! Nestled in a turn of the century house in the historic Sellwood neighborhood, recessed from busy 13th street just off of SE Nahalem is the Sock Dreams brick and mortar store. Here, you’ll find many of the items we sell on our online store, as well as several other shop exclusive styles. People as far away as Eastern Europe have been known to make pilgrimages to the shop, while visiting the Portland area, but the busiest time for our little shop is always the Holidays.
From Black Friday until almost the New Year, our shop is a bustle with folks getting warm, cozy, kitschy, fashionable, soft, funny and cute socks, tights and other accessories for their loved ones. The Sock Dreams shop team is four people strong and they do their best to help our customers find the perfect gift.
Pictured here, is our shop crew wearing some of their favorite socks.
First up is Rose, who has been working with us since August 2012 and, like many of us, has noticed a drastic change in her wardrobe-Waking up each morning and planning a whole outfit around my socks is awesome. Best dress code ever. Socks Dreams has filled me with so much confidence in my body/legs that I went from wearing a dress or skirt once a year to weddings to wearing them every day.
Rose is wearing the Sock It To me Dinomite knee high– I’m the weird one; I’ll just start with that. Every day I layer and mash weird colors together to make my personality jump out of my socks.
Rose spends much of her time at the shop picking out shop exclusives and helping customers.
In terms of tips on shopping for the holidays- Shop early! We have a few select holiday styles that are shop exclusive and they will be going fast.
Next is Gelsey, the Assistant Shop Manager, Gelsey has been with Sock Dreams since August 2010.
When asked what her favorite part of working here is- Hands down: the people. I love being friends with all of my coworkers. Best. Coworkers. Ever.
Gelsey wears Sock Dreams own brand of cotton slouch sock– I like wearing my socks scrunched down around mid-calf high boots, and I love the Cotton Slouch Socks because they actually hold their slouch rather than slowly sliding down to the bottom of my foot during the day.
Her tip for holiday shopping- The store and web site sometimes have different items. If you’re coming in for something you saw on the web site, make sure to call ahead so we can hold it at the shop for you.
Then there’s Laurel, our vivacious Shop Manger. Laurel has worked for Socks Dreams since August of 2008 and also loves all her co-workers.
Laurel is wearing a brand that is new to Sock Dreams, and we are all totally in love with- I really like the Sockwell compression knee highs because I’m on my feet a lot. They stay up great without being too tight at the top. They have a nice, cushy foot that’s great for boots and a toe seam that’s not very noticeable. They’re warm, they’re cute, and I’ve worn and washed them several times and they hardly show any wear. I especially like them when I go to the Timbers game and stand on cold concrete for 90+ minutes. Go Timbers! The Timbers being Portland’s pro soccer team.
We’re also part of a fantastic local network of shops where you can earn points to gain rewards- Sock Dreams is proud to be a part of the Supportland network. With Supportland, the customer has one card (or a phone app) that they can use at a ton of rad locally-owned businesses to earn rewards. With more businesses joining the network all the time, you can earn points every time you shop, and then turn around and use those points for coupons, gift cards, and other free stuff!
Last, but by no means least, is our newest shop employee Sabrina! Sabrina has been with us since July of this year and is a fantastic addition.
Her favorite part of working at Sock Dreams, so far, is- Helping customers find the perfect pair of socks!
Sabrina wears another house brand favorite, the O Dreamy’s in Heliotrope- They’re super soft, have a great texture and are subtle, yet visually interesting.
Sabrina’s holiday shopping tip- When it comes to returns, I would suggest calling us at the shop with any questions regarding what is acceptable for refund/ exchange. Also, I would suggest asking about a certain pattern/design they may not see in the store. We keep track of all customer product requests and try to meet them when placing orders for future stock.
These ladies work really hard to make your shopping experience effortless; they’re always happy to help you find the perfect thing. If you’re in the Portland area, come on by and say hello!
