Like many of you, we sometimes feel the strain of a never-ending array of new sites to participate in. But Pinterest has caught our eye, it is full of pretty pictures and inspiration… so we’ve dipped our toes into their pool and are having fun, not only adding pictures of our favorite socks, but also shots of our critters, stuff we no longer carry, people we miss, comparison shots, some of our fun invoice drawings and, of course, things that simply inspire us.

From barcodes to log-ins, we are making some last-minute updates before the holidays really kick in. And, just because we know how badly some of you want them, wishlists are NEXT!

More about logging in shortly, but first…
So, what are these barcodes and why did we add them? truth be told, I dislike barcodes so much that when we were a tiny little home-made business (and could carry a day’s worth of orders to the post office in a cloth bag) I used to put a sticker with our old logo over any product that had one. And for years all our shipping was done by one determined man who got a little help from various employees on the busier days. Here is an actual old orders weight sheet I’ve kept pinned by my desk for years…

…this would have been a busy day for us seeing as it fills the card.
Over the years those lists got much bigger and everything had to be done by hand til one of our super-sharp dreamers teamed up with one of our many talented artists to create a combination logo-barcode that has been appearing on top of our invoices since the end of summer…

Now the job of packing and shipping our orders accurately is infinitely easier allowing our shipping team time to do some side projects, like creating our youtube & Tumblr pages along with other top-secret ventures we are working on.

Okay, so back to those log ins, create your user name, choose your password and security question and voila! any order you have placed using that email address will load in your order history complete with product links to all items we still carry (because this was a very important feature for me, I want to know what I bought and what page it’s on). You just need to add your billing & shipping info this once… Go ahead, try it!
And, rest assured… this is only the beginning and wishlists are the very next thing we’ll be adding!
More, much more, to come on this exciting wwwelopment…

The dreamiest sock dream come true!

I’ve written before about sock dreams coming true when a style we wish for happens or when a favourite sock comes back to us—but this may just be the dreamiest dream to come true yet!

Of course, I’ve got to tease a little.

It’s been five years since these DreaM Stockings debuted,

and a little over three since they were available in an OTK and a thigh high.

But it’s been almost two years since we’ve had them in stock. The yarn for these socks was discontinued and we’ve been on a hunt for a replacement ever since.

But a secret stash of the yarn has been found—enough to make a limited run of both OTK and thigh highs. We won’t have them forever and we’re still looking for a long-term supply of this yarn, but for a short time, this sock dream has come true.

Have you guessed what they are? Join us after the jump for the answer!

Yes! The Super Dreamy and O Dreamy socks are back! They’re only available in Hibiscus and Autumn, but the slubby, soft, beautiful marled socks are back for a limited time.

So if you loved the Super Dreamy socks, now is the time to get a pair!

And if the O Dreamy Stockings were something you always wanted but never got a pair of, grab some while you can!

Did you get a pair of these dreamy socks the first time around?

With spring, our Dreamer Socks collection is blooming with bunches of lovely new styles!

Our Dreamer Socks styles, with their super comfy cuff and surprising stretch, have quickly become a favourite with us Dreamers and all you wonderful sock lovers. This week we’re proud to introduce more delightful, dreamy styles to the line.

I’m most excited about one of our newest styles for a terribly nerdy reason. Jacquard weaving, with its innovative loom (that was basically an early computer!) is a pretty cool thing. Socks are knit, not woven, and it turns out that there is a way to knit, jacquard style! The resulting two-colour patterns have great stretch, beautiful vertical patterns and have swept all us Dreamers off our feet with love. The first jacquard style we introduced has a gorgeous vertical ripple that almost plays optical illusion-like with your eyes.

The brand-newest jacquard style the girly side of me totally squeals over, it’s all ribbons and flowers and springy colours.

What I like best about the jacquard styles is that the inside is almost like terry loops, so they’re crazy cozy, but the stretchy knit doesn’t get overwarm!

More exciting new things after the jump!

Now, our Extraordinary Thigh Highs are already pretty, well, extraordinary—with a foot that fits US Women’s shoe size 6-14 (men’s 4-12), a calf stretch of 24 inches and a cuff stretch of 27 inches! We’ve got them in Striped, we’ve got them in an even longer striped and now (drumroll please), we have our solid-coloured Extraordinary Thigh Highs in an extra-long version that goes up the very tip top of a lot of our legs and solidly over the knee on folks with larger and longer legs. May we proudly present the Extraordinarily Longer Thigh Highs!

If you’ve been looking for a true thigh high, these just might be it! They go to the tippity tops of most legs, they even hit thigh high territory on one of our plus-size testers with 27 inch thigh circumference and a 30 inch inseam, who normally can only wear thigh highs as over the knee socks. If you’ve got longer legs, they won’t go as high, but they’ll still hit respectively above the knee.

In the same theme of new versions of old favourites the wonderful Acrylic Slouch Socks should look familiar! I’ve always been a big fan of the Cotton Slouch Socks, but I may have just found a new love.

Acrylic has some of the same textures as wool, which is why it is so often blended with it. But there’s no wool in these, just super soft acrylic in bright crayon colours.

It’s so exciting how our Sock Dreams styles are growing and I cannot wait to see what we think up in the future. What new Dreamer Sock style are you most excited to try?

We love our lovely logo and we know you do too. But if you want to wear her socks, what styles are the best option?

We love our lovely logo and we know you do too. But if you want to wear her socks, what styles are the best option?

Our winter logo (similar to the blue theme wallpaper we have, but with her classic purple hair) rocks multi-blue stripes. The Dreamy Knees in Waterfall are almost a perfect match!

More logo matching options after the jump!

The summery rainbow logo is an easy match, our Rainbow Dreams in Classic are a sure thing, though the Foot Traffic Acrylic Rainbow OTKs are a good pairing too (and we have so many rainbow styles in our Rainbow Collection)

What about the pinks and blues of our classic logo that you see on our stickers? Well, the Dreamy Knees in Sweet Pea are a close match, but they’re nowhere near exact. And they’re currently out of stock, though we expect more from our wonderful DreaM Stocking supplier soon (remember, you can always write us and we’ll let you know as soon as they’re back in stock).

We’re picky about our colours and sometimes yarn is hard to get, or a certain colour stops being made, which is why we haven’t made a sock that perfectly matches our classic logo colours. That’s also why the two styles that match our pretty purple logo (which we have as a desktop wallpaper) are discontinued. What kind of world is it that a full range of purple yarn is hard to find? Well, we’re crossing fingers and toes that we’ll find the colours we want. Until then, in memoriam, two delicious purple stripe socks we can no longer get the way we want:

But I don’t want to end on a sad note (though there’s still hope!). We do have great options for matching both our current logo and the rainbow variation. And we’re on the search for the perfect purples and just the right shades of blues and pinks to match our other logo styles. Until then, have you matched our logo (extra points if you rock purple hair!)? Do you have a favourite style of our Sock Dreams gal?

We thought our beloved O Marled Dream Stockings were gone, but we have been blessed with lots of new colors, and just in time for fall weather to hit us

after thinking one of our favorite Dream Stockings styles was gone for good we have been blessed with lots of new colors of O Marled socks… and just in time for fall weather to start hitting us with chilly evenings and even chillier mornings.

These deliciously thick, ribbed socks stretch to an accommodating 23 inches around at the tops while still fitting those of us with scrawny calves… a true “Dream” stocking if there ever was one!
My inseam is about 30 inches and my thighs are 19 inches around so these come pretty close to the tops of my thighs if I pull them all the way up, but my favorite way to wear them is thickly cuffed just above my knees. Larger/longer legs will have varying results, but as seen in the image for charcoal, as worn by Trina, these can still be a great OTK…
.
The biggest change with this new batch is that we decided to only do one foot size which we are calling large because it is larger [in the feet] than the small hunter we have leftover from the previous batches, but don’t worry, these fit a shoe size 7 right up to women’s 10 pretty well and we will probably switch that large to “one size” when those hunters are gone. I also think these itch a little more before being washed a few times, which we think is due to the marled bits, I solved it by wearing them over leggings, but really it just took washing them to soften them up.

Ember is my favorite color of these right now, and as I sit here telling you why I love them so much I am tempted to wear them through a second day because I don’t want to take them off!

O for Over-the-knee and we have a fabulous new one available now...

O for Over-the-knee… that area that can create so much havoc in the sock world.
Depending on both width & height (of both the socks AND your legs, never mind stretch of said socks) an OTK can end up fitting anywhere from just below the knees to right up around your thighs. Why, we even find that can differ from one color or batch to the next of the very same style (it can be enough to drive sock sellers mad!) but we love them and continue to pursue ever better OTK Socks and our Dream Stockings classic is the O Basic.

Basic because it is a basic cotton sock that goes over your knees, most of your knees that is. This line evolved into many variations that are among our all time favorite socks: O Chevrons (a style we see copied every where now) O Dreamies (my alltime fav …we WILL find a replacement that lives up to the dream!), O Lovelies (crochet-like, all I could think when I first saw them was how lovely they are), O Marled (thick & scrumptious & sure to keep coming back), O Pastels (now merged with our O Basics), O Yummies (deliciously textured, terribly missed), O Tie Dyed (fantastically tie-dyed basics, each and every one is unique), O Woolies (oh so warm, more coming this fall), and now… O Rayons!

Made just for us, just like the rest of our Dream Stockings, by a small family run mill in the USA. These are silky soft in shimmery, brilliant colors (hoping more colors are coming too!). The stretch is great, they came up over all our knees, and look good worn high or scrunched down. I barely want to take mine off, they are so comfy! I used to fear rayon clothing because it always needed to be dry cleaned. But not these! I threw them in the wash with my sheets in warm water, followed by a tumble in the warm dryer and they still fit and look fabulous!

Sock Inspector Lola fears there won’t be enough to go around, but we have plenty, for now…

Reviewed by Trina:

Before a couple of years ago I had all but given up on wearing tights. Even queen size hose were pretty iffy, unless I was looking for something that barely fit my thighs, bagged out at my ankles and feet, but could be pulled up to my armpits. I am near the smaller end of the plus size spectrum, about a size 16-18, but still there just aren’t a lot of options out there. Then Niq asked me to try the Foot Traffic Combed Cotton tights. I was skeptical, but I obliged. They fit, actually fit, curves, thighs, tush and all, and did not end up being an almost body suit! I was soooooo excited.
Then came word that we were going to be able to order a plus size version.
OVER THE MOON! Because even though the regular size is amazing, I was almost maxing out the stretch, the waist band rolled a bit, and the thighs did tend to wear out faster than I hoped.

I am 5’6.5”, 225lbs, 31-32 inch inseam,
hips 49in, 29in thigh, 19in calf, size 8.5 shoe.

So now we have them, and they fit me pretty dang good. They have more room in the waist than the regular size helping the waistband lay nice and flat.

Foot Traffic seems to have reinforced the weave from waist to about mid thigh and I’m thinking that will make them last longer. They are still nice and soft and stretchy. They fit my size and shape quite well. I would guess that a size or two above me would do well with them too depending on your shape and leg length.

The leggings fit me a bit differently than the tights. The leggings seem to me a bit smaller, not a ton, but a bit. The plus size legging also has the reinforced thigh and panty area as the tights but here it seems to effect the sideways stretch some and cause a slight dent in my thigh. But the waist band is great on these as well.

Charcoal is one of my favorite colors and am already planning out some nice fall skirt, sock, and legging/tights combos. I can’t wait for even more colors!

I don’t usually take sock shots in the sunlight, but when I woke up two Sundays ago to a bright sunny morning I decided to give these pretty new knee highs a shot in the sun. We’ve been getting some really pretty stripes lately and I can never pick favorites so I wore one of each of these with one of each of the new Dreamy Knees…

it made me happy all day

That afternoon, after staying up late the night before finishing a batch of Strange Monster arm cozies for us Rene & her partner Cameron dropped off what would become our last batch of these beloved cozies.

a few days later we learned she passed away the very next day.
A sadness fell over us that was hard to shake. I’d barely gotten to know her in the past few months since we’d met as we mostly exchanged emails and talked briefly during her drop offs. We were about the same age and I loved that she wore pigtails too.

If you own a pair of her cozies treasure them forever because she really did make each and every one of them herself. If you don’t own a pair you best grab some while we still have some. Today it’s grey and we’re finally going to get some rain…
so here’s to the rainbows and sunshine to come.

They are an amazing treat in pudding, delicious on applesauce, decorative in yogurt, festive on cake, and super special on or in cookies, pancakes, etc… I could go on for days with ways to enjoy them (and yes… I have eaten them plain by the spoonful). So it seems only natural then that when Sock Dreams made a sock with sprinkles on top, that I’d find them super yummy too… And I do!

They are quite sweet looking, and there is a soothing comfort to wearing them.. I can’t quite figure out what exactly gives them that effect (perhaps its the decadent dessert thoughts that the sprinkle pattern evokes… or maybe its the soft to the touch, thick and cuddly sock itself)… whatever it may be, it’s good…. yummy good!!
