…complete with a sweet, but not gaudy, theme for February and a collection of some of our favorite socks for sweethearts and dear friends alike.

If you don’t celebrate we don’t mind…
just look past the hearts and find your new socks stashed all over our site (don’t worry, there are clues everywhere to help you find them and we’re almost always around to give you hints).
If you do celebrate be quick about it, two weeks can fly by like a sock shot from a slingshot.
Wait, no, that won’t go far will it? well, regardless…

do not leave your sweetie with chilly toes, we won’t hear of it.

Sock Dreamer Zaffy & I headed over to the Oregon Convention Center just before noon on Sunday to check out the event and taste all the goodies. In my nearly 17 years in Portland it was my first time to go to the center, so that in itself was an adventure. It’s a nice building with easy indoor parking and some really cool artwork installations including a mosaic of our universe on the floor with a pendulum swinging overhead…

I wore my pair of chocolate socks so we could finally get our own shot of those up
(many thanks to Zaf for shooting them on me!)…

these are the ones we sell and they are not the ones that were sold at the event or given away Sunday morning, though we might bring in the alternate version, if we can, because they sold out on Saturday…

Inside the event it was very crowded so we slowly made our way around sampling the many treats… I think I will aim for arriving earlier next time, maybe even the Friday evening Premier night… but there will be a next time! and just in case Chocolate isn’t a good enough cause this event benefited the World Forestry Center.

By now you might be wondering how the samples were…. tiny, cute, delicious, unexpected (blue cheese brownies!?!), but most of all… the very best thing there was good old fashioned English Toffee made by a little Portland based company named Melting Pot Candy, along with their jalapeno version that kept my throat warm long after we walked away, if you can get some do… they were super tasty!

Last summer I got a very sweet note asking if we’d be interested in collaborating for the local Chocolate Fest… What could be better than chocolate and socks?
…wait, we have a LOCAL chocolate fest?!? how awesome is that? So we worked out a special design with Gumball Poodle to make Chocolate socks in a limited edition just for this event (Yes, they will be different than the ones we sell): the first 150 people to arrive on Sunday, January 22 will get a free pair! We won’t have a booth and we won’t be “working” the event, but some of us will be in there sampling chocolates and having a great time… hope to see you there!

and just like that, wishlists were created!
but because we made them from scratch (just like grandma’s cookies) and they are totally new (for us) they do not yet have all the features they will have in the not-so-far-away future.
But they’re here, and as far as we can tell, they totally work.
