We offer FREE USPS shipping on all US orders!

When you hear the words, “Sock Dreams”, chances are the things that spring to mind are a crazy variety of socks and accessories, great customer service, and fast, free shipping within the USA. For those of us behind the scenes, though, it’s our house brands that really stand out! That’s Dream Stockings and Dreamer Socks, and together the two brands take up nearly half of our stock room! It’s a whole lotta sock, and many of them need folding, labeling and testing before we can sell them, so we actually have twice as many dreamers in this part of our stock room as we do in the “upstairs” area.
As previously mentioned, the phrase “downstairs” is a holdover from the beginnings of Sock Dreams, when the company operated out of a multi-story house, with house brands in the basement, non-house brands upstairs, and offices and such in between. While our Dream Stockings manager, Rachel hasn’t been with us all that time, she started in fall of 2011, and was here to help us move from our last headquarters building. As a long-term customer prior to joining our ranks, her favorite part of the job is getting to shape the direction that our house brands take — and seriously, who wouldn’t be excited about that? Despite being instrumental in bringing in new styles, her favorite sock is actually an old staple – The Cotton InkLined knee socks in lilac. As she puts it, “they’re fun and classy at the same time.”
Stephanie is essentially Rachel’s right-hand Dreamer, and is currently finishing her second year with us. She’s also been involved in the evolution of our Dream Stockings, which she says “feels a bit like Hocus Pocus, except our cauldrons are full of yarn.” She also does a lot of the work of organizing and getting the socks on the shelves for all of your orders. Because she spends lots of time testing each new batch of socks for fit, she suggests that you write in to email@example.com if you ever need sizing help – we’re always happy to provide it. Her favorite socks happen to have been her first pair of Sock Dreams socks, from a few years before she started working with us. Nowadays she has a whole dresser just for socks, but the O Rayons in paprika remain her first pick.
Since most of our house brand socks come unfolded and unlabeled, we also have a resident sock folding expert, Matt. He started with us back in September of 2011, so if you’ve bought our socks since then, there’s a good chance that they were carefully folded and labeled by Matt. His are the feet wearing the shorter version of our Cotton Inclined OTKs: Boy Socks. His favorite part of working here at Sock Dreams is being around his fellow coworkers. Isn’t he a gem?
The newest member of our “downstairs” department is Arion. She will have been here for one year in August, and our chants of “We accept her, one of us!” still hang in the air… it’s just how we greet our new hires. As a long-time lover of scrunchy socks, our Super Ms are her favorites (pictured above in dark red): “They’re comfy and simple like the O Basics, but long enough that I can scrunch them all the way up my legs, or fold them over my boots to look like cuffs.” Despite her relatively short time with us, she had the same advice for our customers as her department manager, Rachel: Don’t Panic! We get new socks in all the time, so if it’s out of stock when you go looking for it, just sign up for an automatic notification on the product’s web page, and we’ll let you know just as soon as it’s back!
As you can see, it takes quite the team effort to keep our house brands in stock and ready to ship, and luckily for our customers, this is quite the team!
Well dreamers, it’s been a while since we asked you to dust off your thinking caps and participate in a contest, so we’re super-excited to announce that we’re starting one now!
The idea is to use Pinterest to curate your dream outfit, featuring photos of clothing that you’ve found on the internet (be sure to include sources). The main requirements are that you include at least one item from Sock Dreams, and keep your submission family-friendly.
Check out our infographic (above) for all of the details, and submit links to your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 31st. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
While May might not be what you think of as harvest season, we think that with all of June’s Pride celebrations right around the corner this is the perfect time to expand on one of our most popular lines of socks: Harvest Rainbows!
These colorful thigh highs flew solo for the first few years of their reign, but with the recent addition of junior and youth sizes it’s looking like we might just have dynasty on our hands (or feet, if you will)!
Well a simple dynasty is not enough for us. Nope! That’s why we’ve added two more unisex, adult-sized options: Knee Highs and Crews! You see, while we adore thigh highs and hope you do too, we also don’t think that should be a requirement of rocking awesome, muted rainbows. Besides, they’re so perfect for the Pride festivals that take place during the rather warm month of June, it just made sense to make them in more Summery lengths!
With three foot sizes and multiple lengths, these rainbow socks are getting to be just as diverse as the people that they represent!
It’s that time of year again! That’s right — Lost Sock Memorial Day is right around the corner (this Friday, May 9th, to be precise) and as always we’re offering a 20% discount code!
While we will be spreading the love around on our social media, the most reliable way to be sure you get it, is to have it delivered right to you email inbox! Sign up here for our newsletter, complete with sales, sage advice, and pseudo-scientific speculation!
Already signed up? Fabulous! Give yourself a pat on the back, because those signed up for the newsletter will receive the code first!
With Spring underway and new items rolling in, we felt it was the perfect time to introduce you to the part of our stockroom team that deals with new and seasonal items! While our house brands — Dream Stockings and Dreamer Socks — usually vary only when our yarn supplies run out, our other suppliers are constantly changing! And so it falls upon the part of our stockroom team called “Upstairs” (a holdover from when Sock Dreams was first starting out in a multistory house) to make room for the ever changing selection of new styles!
While we have a lot of hands from various departments assembling orders in the stockroom, the actual organization of this department as well as the huge responsibility of receiving and keeping track of our incoming shipments falls on the shoulders of two ladies: Brenna and Tori.
Brenna started at Sock Dreams in 2007, and does a crazy amount of behind-the-scenes work here, including writing a weekly Sock Journal – somehow she never runs out of inspiration! Her main duty is that of Stockroom Manager, though, and it’s a good thing that she’s a multitasking expert – as she puts it, “The Stock Room team works together to receive stock from our dozens of suppliers, enter it so our awesome customers can buy it and get it put away so us Dreamers can easily and quickly grab what we need for folks’ orders.”
“We also do behind-the-scenes work keeping up with figuring out if a style is gone forever or just for a season, making styles easier to find when searching and keeping an eye out for changes in product.” Whew! It’s okay though – this job can be very satisfying to the right type of brain: “Working in the Stock Room is like playing Tetris, only with way more fun variables to sort and swap and fit.”
Unfortunately, there are some limitations to what advanced Tetris skills can achieve. “It’s sad stuff, but we haven’t cracked the science of wormhole storage space, so we are limited in what all we can fit into our stockroom (and still make it easier for Dreamers to get at for orders—a lot of us are short). That’s why sometimes we won’t carry all of a supplier’s styles, or all the colours and variations of a style.”
Brenna’s favorite items (shown above, on the right) are the Harajuku Arm Warmers and Easy Does It midcalves. “The Harajuku Arm Warmers are so perfect I have to keep from singing their praises constantly on the Sock Journal. About one million great colours, a solid fit for a wide range of hands, so soft once they’re washed! And, and, they have held up through the endless attack I put them through. Sure, they will pill a little as the world rubs up against them, but that’s what sweater shavers are for. I have a pair that I got because they had a hole in them and in the probably 3+ years of regular wear that hole has never gotten bigger.
“But, if I’ve got to pick a sock, then it is the Sockwell shorter styles, like the Easy Does It Relaxed Fit Striped Midcalf. They are seriously comfortable crews that cushion and don’t bite in at all. I have had a crush on the Plush Relaxed Fit Midcalf for a while, because they’re full terry inside and I’m a sucker for terry.”
Brenna’s assistant, Tori, is a newer recruit, starting in 2012. Tori’s primary concern is keeping everything stocked, and that’s a big job for one little lady! Of course, sometimes the ability to stock socks is out of our control, but Tori has some tips on how to be proactive while waiting on stock: “To be notified when an item is restocked, just go to the product page for the item you want, enter your email address, and we’ll notify you when it’s here!”
Tori’s favorite legwear is the Floral Bloom Lace Tights from Leg Avenue. “The pattern is so elegant, but adds and extra flare to make any one of my outfits complete. Because of their elegant design I was able to wear them in my last semi-professional job, and everybody loved them! I can wear these any time of the year, although in winter I’d layering them with some color tights, but I wear these a lot more during the warmer months under skirts and shorts. Even with a lot of wear, what little holes I get haven’t gotten much bigger, but with the design of these tights, I don’t really notice them.”
When asked what her favorite part of the job was, Tori’s reply was in classic Dreamer style, “Being surrounded by so many awesome socks I never knew I love, but most importantly it’s the people I work with. It makes coming in to work fun every day!” Indeed, Tori. Indeed.
