We clicked our heels three times and have finally made it home from Emerald City Comic Con. While there is definitely no place like home, we have to admit that ECCC was an amazing adventure. The best part about it though, was getting to meet some of you. We were impressed with the way you tied some of our favorite socks into your incredible cosplays, including Shannon’s very fitting Dorothy Gale. She used a pair of Four Button Ribbed Leg Warmers in ivory for her steam punk spin on this classic character.
Aireeka was the first to stop by our booth and show off her costume socks. She completed her rad Rocket Raccoon cosplay with our N Stripes in orange and red. Sarah couldn’t wait to show us how she utilized the Purple Knees she had bought from us the day before. Here she is as Clawdeen Wolf with her Monster High classmate, Frankie Stein, as portrayed by friend Merce.
What comic con would be complete without a visit from The Doctor? Fortunately we didn’t have to find out when Whitney showed up as the 11th version of this enigmatic traveler from Gallifrey. Her Constellation Knee Highs from Sock It To Me added a spacey touch to this feminine take on the role. And speaking of feminine takes, we also loved this girlish approach to Firefly’s Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Kayln used our Extraordinary Thigh Highs in olive green for her sassy ensemble.
Another thing that we loved about our adventure in Emerald City was getting to meet other exhibitors. Our next door neighbor and borrower and lender of scissors was the talented James Ramos. James is an artist, illustrator, game designer, and philanthropist. His heroes include Walt Disney, Charles Schulz, and Chuck Jones. We also, literally, bumped into Christopher Stuart Wilson, a painter and self proclaimed ninja. He is an award winning artist who strives to, in his words, “bridge the canyon gap between the real and the abstract.” We were particularly taken with his Mona-Mystique painting.
Eventually all adventures come to an end. Fortunately we are gearing up for a new one at Chicago’s C2E2. If you want to be a part of our next incredible journey, meet us there at Booth 781!
If you are like us, you’ve spent hours browsing the website. You’ve gotten lost in the colors, the patterns, and textures. You’ve daydreamed about ways to layer and outfits to wear. But sometime, don’t you want to be able to pick up the socks and hold them in your hands? Wouldn’t you love to run your fingers over those textures and see the colors with your own eyes? Well, your chance is coming, because we are taking our socks on the road! Over the next eight months we will be traveling far and wide to bring our socks to some of the biggest comic book and pop culture events in the United States.
Not only will these events be the perfect time to see our products in person, but it’s your chance to take home some convention exclusives. As always, we will be bringing one of our collectible stickers in a brand new design. This one is a tribute to a favorite animated character. We love her sassy attitude and flawed, yet multifaceted nature. Even if her boyfriend is a real joker. Stop by our booth and get one for free!
In the same vein, we have also created a pair of socks inspired by this quirky character. These socks, like this woman, are truly extraordinary. They are super long and stretchy, expanding up to 24 inches in the calf and up to 27 inches in the cuff! If cosplaying is one of your passions, and you are thinking of dressing as a semi-psychotic trickster, than these will be a perfect fit.
Here is where you can find us and both of these exclusives this year:

Sakura Con is the Pacific Northwest’s largest Anime convention. Con goers can dress up as their favorite anime character, find a large variety of Manga and Anime to buy, and enjoy panels on everything from voice acting to the art of anime, to interactive games.
Dreamer Jen especially looks forward to seeing one of her favorite regular vendors, Epic Cosplay, who have a huge variety of inexpensive wigs.
This year, Sock Dreams will be located at booth 243, in the back end of the convention hall. We’ll be passing out stickers and our new buttons, as well as selling the Sock Dreams brand at discounted con prices. Come by and see us!
Really, you could argue that anything human hands finish or help machines produce is “handmade.” However, when things are knit or sewn by hand, or an artisan’s hands take a machine-made blank and turns it into a little work of art, we consider that hand made or altered and we have a category just for that!
Our Hand Made and Altered section is filled with delights that make for lovely gifts (for others or yourself) that have a personal touch. From hand screen-printed or dyed to hand-assembled or knit, these styles are produced in small batches, often just for us!
Silk-screening is hard work! We know from printing our logo t-shirts! But, a t-shirt is pretty simple to print on. The skill and quality of both Nylon Journal and Polonova in printing their pretties continues to impress us.
Nylon Journal’s USA made tights are hand-printed in New York city!
Polonova’s gloves and trouser socks are hand-printed much closer to home for us, right here in Portland, actually! And, just like Nylon Journal, both the knee-high trouser sock blanks and the glove blanks (fingerless or otherwise) are made in the USA, too.
A trippier option is Love Lite Precision Tie Dye, hand-dyed confections of glorious and brilliant tie dye on (mostly) our house brand styles.
Una, based just North of us in Seattle, are hand-sewn and silk-screened. We also get to pick the colour combos, based on seasonal availability, so a little bit of us is in there too, but just a little, most of it is the wonderful folks of Una!
Texture Clothing’s arm warmers are not only hand-made, they’re produced with scraps from Texture’s clothes-making process, where “nothing is wasted and everything is wanted”.
Of course, because these styles are all hand made or altered in small batches, they run out quickly, so grab what you love while you can! If you miss out, just sign up for email notification and you’ll know the same day we do that a fresh batch is in stock and ready to buy!
Sunday is the last day of Sakura Con, and your last chance to win a free gift card at our booth!
For each day of the con (Friday 3/29, Saturday 3/30, and Sunday 3/31), we’ve been posting a new code word right here in our Latest News.
All you have to do is come visit our booth (#148) and say the code word.
The first 16 people who say the code word each day will receive a Sock Dreams gift card for $5, $10 or even $50. The gift card will be selected randomly, so you could win big!
The code word for Sunday is kage. Come say hi and see if you’re a winner!
