Sock Dreams loves purple (and color search!)

Purple might not be Niq’s favourite colour—but she loves it enough that it tints a lot of what we see here at Sock Dreams, it’s even the shade of our logo’s luscious hair:

With the new advanced search options, we can prove just how much we still love purple.

To tell the truth, we love all colours, but I am going to say that choosing “purple” in the advanced search brings up one heck of a lovely selection. As excited as I was to see a colour search option be wwweloped, I never expected it to be so pretty! And fun!

Did you know you can click the ANY” and the “ALL” next to search terms? That means you can look for ANY style that is either purple or red, ALL of the knee highs and leg warmers, whatever you want!

and just like that, wishlists were created!
but because we made them from scratch (just like grandma’s cookies) and they are totally new (for us) they do not yet have all the features they will have in the not-so-far-away future.
But they’re here, and as far as we can tell, they totally work.

Automatic Magic

Sometimes we’re surprised to find out that a style we thought was going to be restocked is actually gone forever. It’s always a bummer and it’s even worse if you’re waiting for something to come back and you don’t know if it is really gone or you just can’t find it.

Worry no longer! We’ve added a feature to our Automated Notifications to help you out.

If you’ve selected to be notified when a style or variety is back in stock, but it turns out that item is no longer available, you’ll receive an email letting you know. We had been doing this ourselves, but now it can happen magically, I mean automatically.

So you’re not too sad, the emails will often even list options from the same categories as the deleted style! If you’ve been waiting for a particular colour or size that is no longer available, the email will list the colours or sizes that you can still order. Totally magic.

Zooming in on Larger Images

We now have zoom capabilities and larger images are literally popping up all over Sock Dreams…

We won’t have all of them done, or even most of them, for some time to come…
But all new items will be zoom-able from now on and I’ll be busily updating images throughout the site in the days, weeks and months ahead (with a little help from Brenna who has also been contributing to the sock images in recent months).

you get a quick zoom that follows your cursor on mouseovers…

and if you click on the small image you get a full image that you can drag anywhere on the page so that you can see the large image and read the description at the same time if you like…

We’ll also be adding more views in the future for those styles that have details you can only see from certain angles, soon to be followed by all those other little tidbits we’ve been working on recently like logins, wishlists and color searches.

Downtime

There was a mishap in our system today that caused our site to be down for several hours. It is now back up and running with ever better protection being implemented to save us from future disasters and to recover asap should such things ever occur again.

Little Changes in the Night

Last night we updated our site and added this simple holiday theme, soon to be followed by a winter theme. We also added a “Sold Out” banner for when we are completely out of something so you don’t have to click on items to find that out. Now that the holidays are winding down and we are starting to catch our breath we will be working on more features we’ve been eager to add like logins, wishlists, color search, customer reviews and much more. But first, the catching our breath part…

Streamlining

We just did a little upgrade to our check out system that streamlines paying with a credit card.
If you were checking out while the upgrade was occurring you may have encountered an error.
All is now working as planned, if you do have any trouble try clearing your cart and everything should be fine. Next up: we’ll start working on adding optional logins and all the glory that brings…

It’s been a few days now and everyone agrees, we love the new site!
So, about those new features we’ll be adding…
let me see how many I can list for you:

Searching by Color
…oh boy, apparently this one is tricky, but I really REALLY want it to work!

Customer Logins…
complete with wishlists, stored address books, status & tracking on orders
…but of course, everyone’s doing it and we’re behind, but not for long.

Customer reviews
…a bunch of these will probably not be ready til after summer.

Order histories
…I think we can find a way to show you older orders as well as new.

restock notify options
…so you don’t have to write us, just click a button and find out when we have it back.

for those who like to utilize RSS feeds, you will know anytime we add a new item!

But before we get to these, the first thing we’ll be working on is the credit card processing, a small, but very important step we’re taking that will make the last step in paying by credit card go flawlessly, or so we hope…

Hi! in case you don’t know me, my name is Niqkita and this is my website.
Well, it was my website in the beginning, until lots of amazing, kindred sock-loving souls helped it grow into the website we have now, it is in essence Everyone’s Sock Site. Every sock sold over the years, every piece of feedback received, every person who put on a pair of our socks and came back for more and told their family and friends led us where we are now and every day we will continue to work hard on being our best, mixed with laughter, tasty snacks and happy paws.
