We are a few days into a new month, complete with a new theme and a new newsletter due to be shipped soonly through the virtual tethers that connect us all… Have you signed up yet? They don’t go out often, mostly just once a month, and they’re filled with fun information, relevant facts and every so often we throw in a special discount code so you can get even more socks!

This year’s Valentine’s theme is slightly different from last year’s, as you can see from my signature below using last year’s version… and it will lead into a similar, yet different, theme later this month thanks to the designing magic of Olivia.

with the celebration of winter solstice ahead we are preparing to stay warm (and dry) and enjoying the change of seasons with a new theme… our beloved Solstice theme, lovingly remodeled by hand by Yummy Wakame to take advantage of the many new features we’ve added this past year including last week’s addition of multi-image capability. Some products will still only have one image, especially items we’ve carried for awhile because it will take time to fill them all in.

Back in the old days, when this was a simple hand made site using a simple program I could use any image, any size or shape, I wanted. But when we converted to a dynamic design consistency was required and we set the image size at a puny 200 x 300 px images to keep it lean. Last year we started adding larger images with zoom function and now we can also add multiple images, per color/size, plus we can also play with formats so horizontals and squares will start appearing in addition to our traditional “portrait” orientation. I’m even going back to throwing in some more artistic shots here and there.

Not only are we adding more images to our products on the site these days, we have been showing off our images, and images we like, in places like Pinterest, Chictopia and now Instagram… which, at this time, is just my snaps though our social media Dreamers will all still be keeping an eye in there for new favorite shots and catching comments and tags that I might miss in the flurry of socks that fly by in the average day at SDHQ.

Valentine’s Day is coming

…complete with a sweet, but not gaudy, theme for February and a collection of some of our favorite socks for sweethearts and dear friends alike.

If you don’t celebrate we don’t mind…
just look past the hearts and find your new socks stashed all over our site (don’t worry, there are clues everywhere to help you find them and we’re almost always around to give you hints).
If you do celebrate be quick about it, two weeks can fly by like a sock shot from a slingshot.
Wait, no, that won’t go far will it? well, regardless…

do not leave your sweetie with chilly toes, we won’t hear of it.

Valentines Theme

Our latest theme is for Valentines Day and though we wanted to set a mood, we didn’t want to go overboard with it, so we stuck with a more subtle, dark palette. It’s my favorite theme so far and I’m not only excited about doing even more themes in the future, but we also plan to allow you, the visitors, to choose your favorite to display when you are logged in (log ins coming one of these days as we’ve long planned & worked towards).

Winter Theme is Live

Snow is falling and a dream is in the air…
a dream of comfy socks, of cozy socks, of scrumptious socks
a dream of unique socks, of quirky socks, perhaps even wordy socks
a dream of sexy socks or sporty socks and socks that fit… really fit!

as we finish off 2010 and get ready for 2011 we have our festive new winter theme in place and are gathering more socks, warmers, tights, etc… just as fast as we can.

As I write this, with Lola snuggled beside me, the banners need another update so that you see this…

…when the elusive Olivia awakes from her slumber deep in the Nicaraguan jungle later today she’ll be tinkering with ever more dreamy ideas that Developer Dan will implement in the wee hours of the night, perhaps not this night or every night, but many nights and soon.
