When most people think of Oregon, they think of rain; and with good reason. Portland alone gets an average of around 37 inches of rain a year, and often times it feels like we should start gathering animals two by two. There advantage to all the rain is when the sun comes out, Oregon turns into a green paradise. So, the latest news is… SUNSHINE!!!

One of our favorite parts of the warm weather is new shorties, like these sweet Sweet Marcel anklets from last summer!!!

We here at Sock Dreams are suckers for a little shorty sock and luckily Tabbisocks has already starting sending us the most adorable socks ever.

Newsletters… Coming Soon!

it’s been years since we sent out a newsletter, in fact… not since it was just me & my camera with a computer and a bunch of socks and that was at least nine years ago. For many years I felt that while everyone else is sending out email after email reminding us all of their new stuff and stuff that is still on sale we’d just keep on spreading the word through various forms of social media as they have evolved over the years. But the time is coming and we will not abuse the privilege of sending our dear customers newsletters via email…

they will only go out a few times a month and our first one will be requesting feedback from subscribers to find out what you really want to see and hear about from us. If you’ve been following us on Twitter, Facebook or Tumbler you already know Jess, she’ll be doing our newsletters and promises to keep it fun. So, if you haven’t already… go sign up, and don’t worry… we make it super easy to unsubscribe and we never ever sell our customers’ information to anyone so you will not suddenly start getting random emails from places you’ve never even heard of as a result of giving us your email address.

P.S. right after this happens… an entirely new search program will be in place, and it is awesome!!!

Anna Sui & Betsey Johnson!

Fun, flirty, sexy and cute, both the Anna Sui and Betsey Johnson lines are full of styles we love and look forward to offering online. They’re not technically boutique, like some of the brands we offer specially at our brick and mortar shop, but they are seasonal and what we can get is often limited. Nonetheless, we’re thrilled that we can get as much as we can and we’re trying to space them in our new styles queue so you all can have fresh Anna and Betsey styles throughout the spring.

We’ve just introduced some Anna Sui into the mix, which includes some sweet little ankle socks that complement the classic Betsey Johnson styles.

We may not be able to get more of the Betsey Bee’s Knees right now (we’re trying!), but Anna Sui has two equally adorable knee highs:

A Betsey Johnson style that is sure to go fast are the Petite Pointelle Over the Knee. We’ve got just Black available right now, but there are two more colours that we’ll be releasing soon. If you see one you like, get it while you can! A little lace, a little open work and the signature Betsey bow. Another style of Betsey’s that we love are the Mark Mahoney Tattoo Sheer Tights. I am a sucker for the little details on Betsey Johnson styles. So dainty!

Changes

Years ago I faithfully maintained my sock journal so well it deserved the name Socks of the Day.

As time went by, and we got ever-busier, I had less time and energy to keep up but had several friends who eagerly helped out. More time went by and we all continued to get busier and the times were changing so we changed the name to the Sock Journal and went so far as to call it Niqkita’s Journal for the new site design. But I just can’t seem to get back in the swing of it so we’ll be switching it back to simply be the Sock Journal and will be featuring reviews and updates from Brenna who is pretty much my left hand girl (as opposed to right hand man, because we’re girls and she is, in fact, left-handed).

Brenna has been working closely with me for three years now and has her finger (er, toes, rather…) on the pulse in our warehouse and the sock world around us. She has a lot of great ideas for what to show off and talk about here and will be diving right in with weekly updates starting this week. I have a feeling I will actually become more productive here myself once the weight is off my shoulders…
and, just for fun, here’s me in my toetoe anklets lounging with Lola this morning.

Extraordinary!

We had a super hard time naming these because they really are so amazing that any words we thought of either fell short or tipped the scale at unbelievable…
But these truly are extraordinary. So, after much thought, we went with it!
What makes them so extraordinary? they absolutely fit each and every one of us and then some.

Our smaller feet fit, our largest guys feet fit, then they not only go over our knees they did it without rolling or denting, surprising us all. All that and they formed nicely around our ankles, went with our cutest shoes and stayed up pretty well for something that doesn’t squeeze into our thighs.

So this is a new direction for our socks, still made in the US (just for us, you will not find these anywhere else) in solids & stripes with lots more variations in the works.
…and since it has taken far more years to come up with a sock that truly fits us all, we’re pretty darned proud and will be praising these far and wide with our various reviews in the days to come.

This is the first of a new line of Dreamer Socks, but will not be the last!

Streamlining

We just did a little upgrade to our check out system that streamlines paying with a credit card.
If you were checking out while the upgrade was occurring you may have encountered an error.
All is now working as planned, if you do have any trouble try clearing your cart and everything should be fine. Next up: we’ll start working on adding optional logins and all the glory that brings…

It’s been a few days now and everyone agrees, we love the new site!
So, about those new features we’ll be adding…
let me see how many I can list for you:

Searching by Color
…oh boy, apparently this one is tricky, but I really REALLY want it to work!

Customer Logins…
complete with wishlists, stored address books, status & tracking on orders
…but of course, everyone’s doing it and we’re behind, but not for long.

Customer reviews
…a bunch of these will probably not be ready til after summer.

Order histories
…I think we can find a way to show you older orders as well as new.

restock notify options
…so you don’t have to write us, just click a button and find out when we have it back.

for those who like to utilize RSS feeds, you will know anytime we add a new item!

But before we get to these, the first thing we’ll be working on is the credit card processing, a small, but very important step we’re taking that will make the last step in paying by credit card go flawlessly, or so we hope…
