I personally never want summer to end, but I have to say I won’t regret colder temperatures opening up the world of thick, cuddly socks for me again! There’s lots more fall socks to choose from in our Autumn collection, where there’s also lots of great back to school options.

I know that gloves can be a traditional part of fancy Easter dress and there is something terribly lady-like about daintily gloved hands.  Maybe this one isn’t a “rainbow” since they’re all white or off-white.

There are a bunch of pretty pastels in our wide wonderland of socks, but the Spring collection is a good place to start for those light layers and lovely shades of spring. How about you? Do you start adding frothy, frilly pastels to your wardrobe this time of year?

Well, not the socks, but the fingerless gloves!  Arm warmers don’t quite cut it in cold temperatures, but fingerless gloves like the Acrylic Fingerless Shorties are a great way to keep those fingers warm and still stylish and free to pick up things without fumbling.

And there’s few socks more perfect for winter than the New Zealand Bedsocks from Outer Gear.  In solids, stripes, dots and hearts, there’s something for everybody who wants one of the cosiest bed socks we carry!  And they even come with tread bottoms, for a little security with your softness.

Now, if you want total winter wonderful, I’m going to have to say that the Gregorio Wool Bootsocks are going to be your best bet.  Better for bigger feet (Label says they fit men’s shoe size 8-13.  We find they fit down to US women’s shoe 8.5 comfortably, just a little loose at the toes), they’re supremely cushy and cozy at 38% virgin wool, with a luxurious touch of cashmere. These guys totally make me sad that I can’t wear wool.

We just got our shots of the new colours up and there is a real rainbow of shades and neutrals in these scrumptious socks!  I took some quick snaps to spin together some rainbows for you that showed their gorgeous texture.  The Gregorio colours are rich and cool, perfect for winter.

And their neutrals and browns are just as luxe and lovely.

So, what colours do you use to keep warm as it begins to get frosty out?

One summer style that is a big favourite with Dreamers and will always remind me of a box of crayons are the Dream Sneakers.  They hide under high tops and their ankle band of colour just pops over lower shoes. And they come in packs of two pair!

Now, sometimes you need more than little sneaker socks. Lightweight arm warmers and even an OTK after the jump!

We get asked what arm warmer styles are good lightweight summer styles pretty regularly.  Both the Vitamin Arm Warmers and the Chevron Sleeves are good, fuller coverage arm warmers that are still light enough to breathe.  If you’re sensitive to the sun, they’re a great choice.  The Ethereal Arm Warmers are the same long length and are even lighter, but they are also are semi-sheer, so they won’t give you as much protection.  Between all three is one of my favourite rainbows, swinging between summer neons and sunbleached pales:

Speaking of coverage, sometimes you may want a little more on your legs in the summer, either for the evening or personal style.  When it’s warm, it’s best to stick with open, lacy styles.  The open, cotton blend knit of the Crochet Lover Over the Knees is a perfect option. I love how their colours are dusty but vibrant, like wildflowers and summer grass.

Not only do they come in twenty five (!) colours, the Harajuku Arm Warmers are the perfect balance of warm and lightweight.  They’re short enough to stuff in a jacket pocket when it warms up and the open space for fingers means I can easily slip them down to wash my hands.

I’ve written before about the great cozy properties of alpaca and angora, they’re such perfect insulators, keeping you warm without being too hot, exactly what early spring weather needs.  Breaux arm warmers are beautiful alpaca blends and have a cozy rainbow of cabled colour options in the Alpaca Cable Knit Arm Warmers and the Alpaca Cable Hand Warmers.

What I’ve been relying on all winter and into the spring are the Orkney Angora Wrist Warmers.  I wear them under arm warmers when I need an extra kick of cozy, hidden under long sleeves, pulled up partially on my hand, plus they’re perfect for when a t-shirt isn’t quite warm enough, but arm warmers would be too much. I guess, in short, I’ve been living in them! Their eleven colour options offer a muted rainbow that is as soft a selection as angora itself.
